ELLNORA | The Guitar Festival | A master of the resonator guitar, Jerry Douglas has appeared on more than 1,600 recordings and is a 12-time Grammy Award winner, a three-time Academy of Country Music Musician of the Year, and a multiple winner at the International Bluegrass Music Association Awards. For 2009, Acoustic Guitar named him Best Acoustic Slide Guitarist, and he distinguished himself to a new crowd as a featured member of Alison Krauss & Union Station on the soundtrack to O Brother, Where Art Thou?

Even though he presides over bluegrass, he has collaborated with artists such as Paul Simon, Elvis Costello, Norah Jones, and Ray Charles to develop a pioneering “newgrass” sound that mixes in jazz and blues, a little Celtic flare, and Dixieland, and along the way he has vaulted the resonator guitar into newfound heights of popularity. When he heads to the stage with fiddler Luke Bulla, drummer Chad Melton, bassist Todd Parks, and guitarist Guthrie Trapp, Krannert Center audiences will relish the whirlwind speed, nimble technique, and flourishing virtuosity of the man called “Flux.”
